Staffing and Training

DES provides frontline medical staff, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs), to medical facilities throughout southwest Georgia.  We recognize the need these professionals may not have the soft skills dealing with complex clientele despite providing the most direct care. DES provides staff that, not only meet state requirements for work, but possess the skill set in providing the best possible care.  DES also provides certified training for current employed staff.

Crisis Prevention and intervention:

Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Training: nonviolent crisis intervention training designed to teach best practices for managing difficult situations and disruptive behaviors. Students learn how to identify at-risk individuals and use nonverbal and verbal techniques to defuse hostile or belligerent behavior. They also learn how to control their fear and anxiety in a crisis and avoid injury when a crisis becomes physical. Students are taught how to respond to a variety of situations, including natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and fires.

Adiet:

AIDET is a framework to communicate with patients and their families as well as with each other. It is a simple acronym that represents a very powerful way to communicate with people who are often nervous, anxious and feeling vulnerable. It can also be used as we communicate with other staff and colleagues, especially when we are providing an internal service.

Conflict Resolution:

  • Conflict is an inevitable and all-pervasive element in our society and in the world. Although conflicts may end up in destruction and even death, conflicts may also result in increased effectiveness, enhanced relationships, and further goal attainment. Indeed, in human terms conflict is one of the “engines of evolution” that allows us to learn, progress, and grow. Our goal is not to attempt to do away with conflict but rather to skillfully manage conflict to further its constructive potential. Conflict is a situation between at least two interdependent parties that is characterized by perceived differences and that the parties evaluate as negative.
